moving devices - how do I move my recordings?
« on: February 23, 2013, 11:17:25 AM »
I just switched from a beyonwiz pvr to using Win7 Media Centre.

in my icetv account all of my recording are assigned to the beyonwiz device.  I assume this is why when Icetv on MC syncs it doesn't pick up those recordings.

I don't see an easy (or any) way to move my recordings from the beyonwiz device to the Win7 device....

I don't want to recreate them all manually.

If you are taking the Beyonwiz PVR completely out of service, you could try changing the device type in My Account>TV Recorders, then do Resend All recordings on My Account>TV Recorders, and then set the MCE device name to the old Beyonwiz name (I've never actually tried this, so it may not work).

An alternative that I have actually done was to set up my new device first, and then use the Update Series button on each recording entry in the old device's My Week expanded entry to change the recording device from the old PVR to the new one. Finally, the old device can be deleted. This is more work than if the first option works, but prone to fewer errors, if not much less effort, than creating all the recordings by hand on the new device. However, it also gives the flexibility to distribute recordings across the two devices if you are going to keep both.

To move ALL 'Beyonwiz' recordings to your 'Win7 Media Center' what you should have done is:
  • Change the existing Beyonwiz device to a Win7 device, and rename it.
  • Add a new Beyonwiz device.
  • Then change the selected device in the Beyonwiz IceGuide menu to the new Beyonwiz device
  • In the Win7 IceTV Interactive app select the renamed Win7 device.
  • Finally you would need to resend the recordings for the Win7 device from the TV Recorders tab in My Account, here:
    http://www.icetv.com.au/cgi-bin/webmembers.cgi?op=editSubscription

But that may no longer be an option as you already have series recordings setup for both devices. So you will need to move each recording by changing the recording device in each series recording in My Shows, on the phone app or here:

Thanks - I did thinking of just keeping the name of the device and specifying that one in the new win7 app i installed but wasn't sure whether there was a custom format for beyonwiz that would cause problems on win7...

Anyway I ended up having to go through recording by recording and switching devices in there
